American University
The School of Communication at American University has a long tradition of educating journalists in the ways of Washington. Alumni include longtime NPR anchor Bob Edwards, current executives at CBS, NBC, Fox News, The Associated Press and The Washington Post and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists, including TV critic Tom Shales. The strong tradition at this school dates to the work of Ed Bliss, who had served as Walter Cronkite's editor at CBS. AU's location and team of professors rival most any other school, but it's often overlooked among journalistic institutions.
